Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire (February 27, 2010 - Toronto ON). Pointe Claire is a quiet community situated on the West Island, which is an island in Montreal. Most people who do not know this name believe it is the West Island extends westward from Montreal. However the West Island includes everything westward from the city of Lachine. Amanda Brugel was born there however her stay in the city wasn't long. Brugel was born in Courtice in the vicinity of Oshawa Ontario. She aspired to be professional, however because of a huge development spurt, she exceeded the size of her dance partners. In an article that was published in the Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall, even when she wears heels. As I got bigger than my males in my group, I decided to quit. The majority of dancers who have been ex-dancers now turn to acting, and in Brugel's case it was a suggestion from one of her drama teachers at the high school who encouraged her to go into the right direction. It was suggested that she participate in her school's production. A teacher suggested that she play a character in the school's annual play. This Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she was a theatre student and earned an Associate's Degree in Fine Arts in the year 2000. Over the past 20 years she has had her appear in over 60 films and television productions. Her most famous role was the one of Rita (shown beneath) on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the only Canadian participant for Season 1 of the show and was rarely seen.
